How do I activate my new Platinum terminal?

Summary

If you wish to add an extra terminal to your Platinum system, please Contact your Platinum dealer or our sales team on 0116 230 1500 or by using our website sales contact page to arrange an additional Platinum terminal licence.

More Information

To change/swap a machine on your Platinum system you may be able to follow the Existing Licence section below.

You must be connected to the internet.
You are able to re-license the same terminal once per month using this automatic method. More frequent changes will require you to contact the Support or Sales team as you may need to purchase additional licences.
Please make sure you have activated/authenticated your Microsoft Windows licence prior to activating your terminal with Platinum. Doing this afterwards will result in your PC no longer being authorised to use Platinum and will result in either you having to reauthorise your PC again via the method below or require you to Contact your Platinum dealer or our support team on 0116 230 1500 or by using our website support contact page to authorise your PC which would be chargeable.
If the terminal was authorised for Postcode Software this will remain with the terminal when re-activated.

Existing Licence

If you are changing a PC and wish to use one of your existing licences then the process can be completed within Platinum.

  • Set up the network access and icons to use Platinum: see Setting up Machines For Platinum Use
  • Start Platinum and log in.
  • You will be presented with a "Login Error 107" box (see Platinum Login Errors Explained).
  • Click [Activate]. You will now be presented with a list of your current licences and their assigned terminals.
  • If the machine name is already in the list then it will be selected.
  • Alternatively locate a spare, unused or redundant licence in the list. You can use the "Last Accessed" columns to help identify which is the correct licence to use.
Take care not to take a licence in use by another terminal or they will then be unable to log in. If you are unsure which licence to use please Contact your Platinum dealer or our support team on 0116 230 1500 or by using our website support contact page for advice before proceeding.
  • The line will change colour and the "ID" and "Terminal" columns will change to the new settings (summarised at the top of the window).
    • You may use some of the columns further to the right to help describe and identify the terminal for the future. These are entirely optional and documentary only.
  • Click [Done] then [Accept].

Troubleshooting

Login Error 106

If you get a 'Login Error 106' Rather than a 'Login Error 107' this may be due to the original PC's ID having a locked user on the monitor screen.

This will need to be cleared before you can gain access to the [Activate] button.

Clearing the 'User Monitor Screen' will need to be done on a pc that still has access to Platinum, once cleared you will have access the the [Activate] button.

New Licence

The addition of a new licence will be processed by the authorisation team. You will then be notified that your new licence is available.

  • Go to a terminal that is already running Platinum and log in to the system.
  • At the top of your screen click " Help About Platinum"
  • Click the [Online Check] Button in the first tab.
  • A message will advise that your details have been updated.
  • Go to your new terminal, which you should have added to your network, and follow this article to add the Platinum shortcuts.
  • Log in to the Platinum system and click [Activate].
  • You will be presented with a list of your current licences and their assigned terminals.
  • Locate the new licence which will show as '1111'.
  • Click on this line then click [Activate].
  • Click [Done] then [Accept].
