Summary
This article explains what steps you need to take once you have run your Platinum update for payroll to move your payroll year forward, but before you run your first payroll period under RTI.
More Information
RTI Submissions mean that some of your existing procedures will have some minor amendments. To see a list of the procedures that have changed and to view the articles in question see the "See also" Section below .
Government Gateway
Real Time Payroll submissions require your Government Gateway Username and password to be filled in. See here for help on this.
If you have done a year end payroll submission on Platinum previously, then the above settings will already have been entered and will not need to be changed. |
New Settings in Payroll - General Company Details
Go to " Payroll Maintenance Options Payroll Settings Company Parameters General Company Details".
Accounts Office Reference
- "Accounts Office Reference" enter your supplied accounts office reference.

Your Employer's Accounts Office Reference is on the P30B letter "Paying PAYE electronically", or if you use payslips, on the front of your P30BC Employer Payment Booklet. |
This is a MANDATORY field for everyone. |
Self Assessment or Corporation Tax Reference
You must now complete one or other (NOT both) of the following two fields.
- Either :
- If you are a sole proprietor or a partnership, in "Self Assessment Reference" enter the ten digits of your UTR (unique taxpayer reference) number, which you will find on your tax return.
- Or :
- If you are a limited company, in "Corporation Tax Reference" enter the appropriate part of the Company Tax Reference or Reference on the Corporation Tax Payslip. You will only need ten digits.
- If you are looking at the Company Tax Reference, you want the two lots of five digits that appear after the first three numbers and before the letter "A".
- If you are looking at the Payslip Reference, then you want just the first ten characters, again those characters before the letter "A".
- If you are a limited company, in "Corporation Tax Reference" enter the appropriate part of the Company Tax Reference or Reference on the Corporation Tax Payslip. You will only need ten digits.
