Syntax

A57{A/C}

Description

Indicates whether the country on this account is defined by HM Customs & Excise as an other EC member state. This is defined in the notes to form 'VAT 101 (04/04)' and may differ from a complete list of current EC member states.

For the purposes of HM Customs & Excise, the United Kingdom is not an other EC member state.

Parameters

A/C

A text parameter that can be omitted (it defaults to "A").

A

Uses the EC membership status from the account.

C

Uses the EC membership status of the governing country. There are cases where offshore islands (the Canary Islands, for example) are not a member of the EC while the governing country (Spain, for example) is a member.

Returns

A text value whose typical size is 1 character.

Y

The country is defined by HM Customs & Excise as an other EC member state.

N

The country is not defined by HM Customs & Excise as an other EC member state.
