How do I Set a Credit Limit for a Customer?

This article explains how to set a credit limit on a customer. This is useful if a customer has a bad payment history and you want to limit their debt with you.

Go to " Sales Ledger Customer File Maintenance".

  • In "Filter on" type either the name of the customer or, if you know it the account code for that customer and select them from the list that appears in the search results.
You can also get to this stage by pressing <Shift+F10> from anywhere there is an account code.
  • Once into the customer click on the [Invoicing] tab.
  • On the right hand side of this page you will see the "Credit Limit" Option. Here enter the monetary value at which you want to set their credit limit.
If this customer does not need a credit limit, leave this at zero.

Once this is done if the customer goes over the credit limit, warnings will pop up at the various stages including invoicing to alert the user that this customer is over their limit.
