Setting up your eBay Page in Platinum

  • Go to " Reports & Settings Maintenance Options Platinum O and Catalyst Findit Platinum O+ Site Maintenance".

If you use Platinum O, your website pages will be listed. You can choose to export items from these existing pages (useful if you already have categorised pages for your website or you have an eBay store) or alternatively you can set up new pages that are used exclusively for exporting to eBay.

  • Choose an existing page or create a new page.
To prevent the page uploading to your website move to the "Details" tab and select 'Page under development'.
  • Select the "eBay" tab.
  • At "eBay page", choose 'Yes'.
  • The other items on this page are defaults which will be used for all the items added to the page.
    • At "Category", enter the eBay category the items fall into when listed on eBay.
The list of category numbers is maintained by eBay and can be found by following the links from this page.
You can override the category on an item by item basis on the [Items] tab or within the "Web Publishing" tab within the stock record.
    • At "Store Category", if you have an eBay store, you may enter the store page number on which the items should appear. You can enter the name of the page in the following box.
    • At "Accept credit cards", choose 'Yes' or 'No' depending on whether or not you accept credit card payments.
    • At "Dispatch time", choose the maximum amount of time it takes from receiving the order to getting the item posted out.
    • At "Shipping service", enter the shipping service you will use to deliver. The list of possible services you can enter here is maintained by eBay, you can find it in the File exchange Advanced Instructions.pdf in your sellers tools.
    • At "Shipping cost", enter the cost of postage that the buyer will have to pay.
    • At "Return notification time", choose the length of time the buyer has in which to inform you of their intention to return the item.
    • At "Return shipping paid by", choose the person who is responsible for covering the cost of returning the item.
To list the products to be included in the upload please see How do I Add Items to my Website?.

Exporting Units

This option is here to allow you to upload items that are stored on the Unit file such as caravan accessories or to upload unit types that are not currently supported by eBay Motors Pro. You cannot upload cars, motorcycles, boats or wholegoods using this method; eBay will not accept these unit by this method. To export items from the Unit file that are not cars and motorcycles:

  • Create a new page.
  • Move to the "Details" tab.
  • At "Status", choose 'Page under development'.
  • At "Items type", choose 'Unit'.
  • Search for and add units and [Accept] the changes using the steps listed above.

Creating the Export Files

  • Move to the "Items" tab.
  • Search for and add items to the "Allocated" list if necessary.
  • Move to the "Allocated" list.
    • Press <Shift+F7> to flag all the items in the list as 'Upload to eBay'.
    • Alternatively, you can highlight individual items and press <F7> to flag just that one item.
  • If you scroll the list to the right, you will see the items flagged as 'Upload to eBay' will have a 'Yes' in the "eBay" column.
  • Move back to the list of pages and [Accept] the changes.
  • Press <Shift+F2> to create the export files. You can choose to include all pages or just the page that is currently highlighted. The files created are 'ebayproduct.csv' and 'ebaytemplate.csv'; they will be found in the 'SXCO?' folder relating to the relevant company in your system; this will generally be 'SXCO1'.
  • Once exported, the items previously flagged to be uploaded will have those flags removed to prevent duplicate items being exported.
