This article explains how to create templates that will control how the information about your units will appear on eBay Motors Pro.

This article is only applicable to users who have the eBay Motors Pro unit feed. If you are interested in setting up this feed, please Contact your Platinum dealer or our sales team on 0116 230 1500 or by using our website sales contact page for more information

More Information

Units: Unit is a general term used to cover all types of vehicle and machinery, including items such as motorcycles, scooters, cars, trucks, vans, caravans, motorhomes, boats, tractors, ATVs, agricultural equipment, wholegoods and construction equipment.
  • To amend your eBay Motors Pro templates, log in to Platinum Online.
  • Click the menu icon in the top-left corner of the page to open the menu (if it is not already open) and go to " Administration Unit Feeds eBay Motors Pro".
  • You will be shown a list of your current templates if you have any.

Adding a New Template

To add a template:

  • From the list of templates, press the [+] above and to the right of the list.
  • At "Unit Type", choose the unit type that this template will apply to.
    • You may choose 'All Unit Types' to create a general template for all types of units.
  • At "Site", choose the site that this template will apply to.
    • You may choose 'All Sites' to create a general template for all sites.
  • At "Title", enter the text you want to show as the listing's title. This can contain place-holder tokens - see below for details.
  • At "Sub Title", enter the text you want to show as the listing's subtitle. This can contain place-holder tokens - see below for details.
  • At "Description", enter the text you want to show as the listing's description. This can contain place-holder tokens - see below for details.
  • At "Shop Category", if you have your own eBay shop then enter your shop category where the listing should be published, if any. To specify deeper level categories specify the complete path separated by |. E.g. Cars|BMW|525.
  • At "Options", if you would like to accept offers from buyers and give them a chance to negotiate with you, select the "Show Best Offer" check box.
    • This is an addition that needs to be enabled on your eBay Motors Pro account. To find out more about eBay's "Best Offer" feature, see their help page.
  • Once you have filled out the page, press the [Save] button to save the template.

Which Template Will Be Used?

For any unit , there may be more than one template that could apply to it. The following rules decide which template will be used:

  • A template with a specific "Unit Type" set will be chosen over an 'All Unit Types' template.
  • If the "Unit Type" is the same, a template with a specific "Site" set will be chosen over an 'All Sites' template.

When Will My Changes Be Visible?

Any changes made will be visible when the next datafeed is published to eBay. This generally happens once per day overnight.
