Summary

The following article will tell you how Platinum works out which Check Sheet to use, or in the case of multiple matches which Check Sheets to list from which you can choose.

More Information

Each Vehicle Check Sheet can be tagged with information about the circumstances where it might be used. When you select a vehicle, in Platinum Online or " Check Sheet Review", and, optionally, a workshop job type, this information is combined to select the most relevant Check Sheet or Check Sheets on the system at the present time.

How the most appropriate Check Sheet is chosen

  1. The following factors are taken into account, in this order :
    1. Workshop Job Type.
    2. Vehicle Type.
    3. Vehicle Manufacturer.
    4. Vehicle Model.
  2. If the system finds one, and only one, Check Sheet, matching all of the above, then you will be presented with that Check Sheet to complete. If more than one Check Sheet is found, then you will be allowed to choose which one you want.
  3. If no matching check sheets are found, then the rules are relaxed one at a time, until one or more check sheets are found. So on the second attempt the system will look for Check Sheets matching :
    1. Workshop Job Type.
    2. Vehicle Type.
    3. Vehicle Manufacturer.
    4. Vehicle Model matching that of the Vehicle, or a Model of spaces.
  4. If we still have no matching check sheets, on the third attempt the system will look for :
    1. Workshop Job Type.
    2. Vehicle Type.
    3. Vehicle Manufacturer matching that of the Vehicle, or a Manufacturer of spaces.
    4. Vehicle Model matching that of the Vehicle, or a Model of spaces.
  5. And so on. This all happens quietly in the background. You don't need to tell the system to keep looking.

In Use

What this means is you might have a PDI Check Sheet for general use, a PDI Check Sheet customised for a specific manufacturer, and possibly even a PDI Check Sheet for a particular model from that manufacturer, if for example the manufacturer has identified an area of special concern. If you enter a vehicle from any other manufacturer, the general PDI Check Sheet will pop up. If you enter a vehicle which is made by that manufacturer, but a model with no special requirements then you'll just get the manufacturer's Check Sheet, but if you enter a vehicle tagged with both manufacturer and model, then the Check Sheet for just that specific model will come up.
