Summary

This article will explain what you should do if you post and upload incorrect P45 details online.

More Information

If you find that you are in the situation where you have entered a new starter's P45 details onto Platinum and have then filed these online and notice that there is a mistake you will need to;

Contact the HMRC immediately explaining what has happened and the mistake that was made.
  • Fill out a manual P45 for the new starter.
  • Write a covering letter which explains;
    • The mistake that was made on the original P45 which was filed online.
    • The Employee details and Payroll reference number.

Send the new P45 and Covering letter to:

HM Revenue & Customs

Pay As You Earn

PO Box 1970

Liverpool

L75 1WX

All that is left is to reverse the P45 values that you entered. If you have closed the period in which you entered the details, then you will need to delete the period in question and re-run the relevant periods. If you are fortunate enough to spot the problem before you close the period, you can edit or delete the details that you entered, but do NOT file these online.
