Summary

This article explains how to create a shortcut to Platinum to take you straight into a specific Module or Menu, e.g. into End of Month reports, Point of Sale or Payroll.

More Information

Each Module and Menu in Platinum has its own unique code. You will need to find the relevant code before you create your new shortcut.

Finding the Module or Menu Code

  • Go to " Reports & Settings Maintenance Options Add or Edit Custom Menus".
  • Press [Search] to list all your menu codes.
You will need to make sure your User code is linked to the menu you wish to start.
  • To check this you will need to [Edit] the specific menu.
  • Choose the "Users" tab.
  • Your User code should be in the list at the bottom of the screen. If not, click [Add].
  • Enter your code in the "User" field. You may press <Ctrl+F1> to search for your code.
  • Click [Done] and [Accept] to save the changes.

Creating a Shortcut

Find your Platinum Icon on your desktop.

  • Right click on it and click [Copy].
  • Right click on your desktop and click [Paste].
  • Right click on the new icon you have created and click [Properties].
  • The "Target" line will usually end with 'K:SX GR00'.
  • Click here and change 'GR00' to your menu code e.g. 'ST00' to start in the Stock Control main menu or 'RP001' to start in the End of Month menu.
  • Select the [General] tab and rename the icon if you wish.
You may find it is sensible to rename this new icon to make it clear which version of Platinum it will open e.g. 1 - Parts Counter - would indicate you are opening the Parts Counter menu for your primary company i.e. SXCO1.
  • Click [Apply].
If you see an [Access Denied] message, click [Cancel]. Click the [General] tab and click in the "Read-only" box to remove the tick.
  • Click [OK] to save your new icon.
