Summary

This article will guide you through downloading and updating the Windows Root Certificates which are used by CommsXL for processing credit card transactions.

More Information

TNS are currently investigating the root certificate that will be used moving forwards, and planning to update this on its production servers mid October 2011.

In order to continued service after the change has been made, please can you ensure that you complete the following changes depending on the Operating System you are using:

These updates can be applied prior to any change to the CommsXL service. TNS suggest that you complete this as soon as possible.

Windows XP

"Windows XP" Root certificates are upgraded via Windows Update by applying 'Update for Root Certificates.' Unfortunately this is not classified as a High Priority update, and therefore is not installed by the Automatic Updates process.

  • Instead it can be found by going to Windows update.
  • Choose 'custom' rather than 'express.
  • On the left hand menu choose 'Select by type'
  • Alternatively Click here.

Windows 2003

The same update can be applied to "Windows 2003" servers, subject to the provisos in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931125

Windows Vista/Windows 7

"Windows Vista" and "Windows 7" automatically handles the root certificate process, (customer firewalls permitting). No further actions required for this.
