How do I set up and sell a demo unit?

This article will explain how to add a vehicle to the system and set it up as a demonstrator vehicle, it will also explain what you will need to do in order to sell the vehicle out when time comes.

Creating the Demonstrator Vehicle

In order to create a demo vehicle on the system you will need to go to " Unit Sales Add or Edit Vehicles".

• Press <F6> or click [Add] to create a new vehicle record.
• Press <F2> to get the next available stock code (Automatically Generated number).
• Set the "New?" flag to 'Yes'.
• Type in the 'Model' of the vehicle. If the model exist this will appear, filling in the Make, Model and Description. If however the model does not appear you will have to create the model. See Creating Vehicle models.
• Fill in the vehicles:
  • "Engine Size:"
  • "Chassis no.:"
  • "V.I.N.:"
  • "Engine no.:"
• On the "Location:" either leave this as 'SHO' showroom, or create a new location for a demo vehicle.

To do this you will need to enter a unique code into the vehicle "Location:". i.e. DEM Press <Shift+F10> to enter the Vehicle Location Properties. Type in a "Description:" for the location. i.e. Demonstrator. Click on the [Parameters] tab and set the "Vehicle type:". Press <Esc> and click [Accept].

• On the "Status:" enter in the Demonstrator status if one exists, or create a new status for the vehicle.

To do this you will need to enter a unique code into the "Status:". i.e. DEM Press <Shift+F10> to enter the Vehicle Status Properties. Type in a "Description:" for the status. i.e. Demonstrator. It is also a good idea to set the "Text:" and "Background:" colours. Press <Esc> and click [Accept].

• Click on the [Purchase] tab, enter in the purchase details for the vehicle including the purchase amount.
• Press <Esc> and click [Accept].

Selling the Demonstrator Vehicle

When the time comes to sell the vehicle you will need to do some alterations prior to selling the vehicle out. You will need to go to " Unit Sales Add or Edit Vehicles".

• On "Search on:" enter the demonstrator 'stock number' and press <Enter>.
• Press <F5> or click [Edit] to go into the "Vehicle Properties".
• Set the "New?" flag to 'No'.
• Set the "V.A.T. qualify?" flag to 'Yes'.

This will then show that the vehicle is being sold as a used vehicle but treat the V.A.T. element of the vehicle as being new, although the vehicle itself is not new.

• Press <Esc> and click [Accept] to save the changes.
