The following article explains how to add a Bin Location to a part number.

More Information

Select " Stock Control Add or Edit Stock Items".

  • This will take you to a search screen. Type either the stock code of the item required (e.g. 'NGK1234') or the the description (e.g. NGK Spark plug).
  • Click [Edit] to select the item for which you want to add a location.
  • Click on the "Location" field.

Alternatively press <F4> or click on the [Depots] tab.

    • Click in the "Location" field for your Depot.
  • Enter an existing location or press <Ctrl+F1> to search through existing locations.
    • To add a new location click [Add].
    • Enter the new Location code in the "Location" field.
This field can include letters and numbers, up to a maximum of 20 characters.
    • Click [Done] and [Accept] to save the new location and return to the stock item.
  • Click [Done] and [Accept] to save the settings.

Creating Multiple Locations

You may create a range of locations to select from when locating a stock code. Use this option with caution as it can be quite powerful!

  • Go to " Stock Control Maintenance Options Add or Edit Stock Locations".
  • Click {[Multiple] or press <Shift+F6>.
  • Use the "Section" option to set your parameters. The parameters you use will depend on the locations you wish to create. The example below can be used as a guide.

For example: to create a range of locations starting with the phrase 'Rack' such as RACK01, RACK02, RACK03 etc.

  • At "Section 1" use the drop down to select 'Fixed Text'.
  • Enter the phrase 'RACK' in the "Fixed Text" field.
  • At "Section 2" use the drop down to select 'Numeric Sequence'.
  • At "Seq. length" enter '2' to allow for numbering of up to 2 decimal places.
  • At "Seq. count" enter '20' to create 20 locations.
  • Click [Start] to create your locations.
  • This will create 20 locations from RACK01 to RACK20.
Prior to exiting the screen, if you find you have made a mistake you may click [Undo] at the top of the screen and it will remove the locations created in this instance.
