Dealing with "Record in Use" message

Summary

This article will explain the message "The record you requested is currently in use" and how to deal with this.

If you try to enter a record in platinum and you get the:

The record you requested in currently in use. You
will be able to use this record when it becomes
available

You may press any (or the Quit button) to
discontinue waiting.

This record is use by user JOE BLOGGS, at station
PC1
.

This is letting you know that another user is editing the record and you will have to wait for them to Finnish before you can access the record. You have the option to [Quit] and do something else or you can wait and as soon as the record becomes free then you will be allowed to continue.

The message will normally inform you who is using the record.

What to do if the Record is Not in Use

If you have checked with the user that Platinum informs you has the record in use and they are not using this record, then there has been a problem of some kind and the record now has a locked user in it. This is not a problem and is easily sorted.

The user Monitor screen holds a list of all current users of Platinum and the locked user can be deleted from here. To clear the locked user How do I clear Locked Users?
