How can I get Platinum to suggest alternative parts?

Summary

The following article explains how you can get Platinum to suggest alternative Items for the one you are trying to sell. For example if you are trying to sell an "official" part number but this is out of stock you may want Platinum to suggest a similar 3rd party item that will do the same job.

More Information

Go to " Systems Stock Control Maintenance Options Stock Alternatives Stock Alternatives Maintenance".

  • You will see the following prompts:
    • Stock Code
    • Description
    • Alternative Stock Code
    • Description
    • Notes

Stock Code/Description

  • Enter the original stock code for which you wish to add the alternative.
The Stock Description will appear automatically as it is related to the stock code.

Alternative Stock Code/Description

  • Enter the stock code of the alternative item. This can be done more than once if there is more than one alternative part.
The Stock Description will appear automatically as it is related to the stock code.

Notes

  • Enter any notes that you want to see about the alternative item. For example, it may do the same job as the original part, but it requires a separate fitting kit.
  • When you have entered all the alternative items, press <Up Arrow> to move back to the original stock code.
  • Press <Esc> to exit from this option.

Using the Alternative stock suggestions

Go to " Systems Stock Control Invoicing and Customer Orders".

  • Enter the part number that you want to sell.
  • If this item is unavailable, make sure that your cursor is on the "Stock Code" field.
  • Press <Shift+F8>to check for any alternatives and their stock levels.
  • If you see a suitable alternative, point at the item and press <Enter> to choose it.
