Summary

The following article explains how Distributors can print V55 documents for their vehicles. Platinum has the facility to store all mandatory and some optional information, and only requires some simple setting up to start using the facility.

System Parameters

  • First of all you need to tell Platinum your "Original Dealer Code".
  • This is entered in "Vehicle Sales" -> "Maintenance Options" -> "Parameters" -> "Distributor Parameters".
  • Also here you will find the option to enter your "MCRIS Registration No". If you are a subscriber to the service this is a mandatory field on the V55.

Adding Mandatory Information

  • This information is derived from the "Manufacturer", "Model", "Colour" or "Technical colour", "Body type" and "Fuel type" of each vehicle, plus the "V.I.N." and "Engine no." specific to the vehicle concerned.
  • Each of these has in their Properties screen a section labelled "V55 support", or in the case of Models two full tabs given over to the required information.
  • Initially you should go through each manufacturer, model, etc you commonly deal with and enter the relevant information for each, and from then on when a new model is released do the same as you set the model up on your system.
  • With your models set up, when you enter a new vehicle and select the model, almost all information for the V55 will be set automatically. Then all you have to do is select that vehicle's "V.I.N.", "Engine no." and "Colour".
    • If you only deal with single colours and enter the DVLA simple colour descriptor in the vehicle "Colour" the V55 will cope, but if you deal with more complex combinations you can set each "Technical colour" to indicate what DVLA colour or combination of colours it is equivalent to.

Printing V55s

  • You probably want to use a specific printer for your V55s as this will be loaded with the correct paper.
    • This is done via "Vehicle Sales" -> "Maintenance Options" -> "Parameters" -> "Configurable Reports".
  • The presence in your "Distributor Parameters" of an "Original Dealer Code" enables a button in "Vehicle Properties", [Print V55].
    • Clicking this button will print a V55 for the current vehicle.
