Summary

This article explains how to create a new Attribute Category.

More Information

An attribute category is used for grouping attributes together. This can be used in conjunction with any of the attributes available in the system. Here we will concentrate on Stock Attributes and Account Attributes.

For example in Stock Control, you could have a category of 'Colour' which contains all the stock attributes for the various colours available.

Stock Attribute Category

Go to " Stock Control Maintenance Options Add or Edit Stock Attributes".

  • Either click [Add] or search for a specific attribute and click [Edit].
  • Click on the [Settings] tab.
  • Click on the field for "Category:" and press <Ctrl+F1>.
  • Press <F6> or click the [Add] button.
    • On "Attribute category:" enter up to a 3 digit code.
e.g. COL.
    • On "Description:" give the new category a description.
e.g. Colour.
    • Click on the [Settings] tab.
      • If this needs to be a mandatory category (an attribute within the category must be selected), set the flag to 'Yes' else leave it as 'No'.
      • If the attributes in this category are to be used internally, set the " Internal?:" flag to 'Yes' else leave it as 'No'.
    • Click [Done] and click [Accept] to save the new Stock Attribute Category.

Account Attribute Category

Go to " Reports & Settings Maintenance Options System Administrator Module Settings Sales Ledger Customer Attributes" or go to " Reports & Settings Maintenance Options System Administrator Module Settings Purchase Ledger Supplier Attributes".

  • Either click [Add] or search for a specific attribute and click [Edit].
  • Click on the [Settings] tab.
  • Click on the field for "Category:" and press <Ctrl+F1>.
  • Press <F6> or click the [Add] button.
    • On "Attribute category:" enter up to a 3 digit code.
e.g. TYP
    • On "Description:" give the new category a description.
e.g. Trade Type
    • Click on the [Settings] tab.
      • If this needs to be a mandatory category, set the flag to 'Yes' else leave it as 'No'.
An attribute within the category must be selected
    • Click [Done] and click [Accept] to save the new Account Attribute Category.
