Summary

This Article explains how to create a new attribute Category.

More Information

An attribute category is used for grouping categories together and this can be used in conjunction with Stock Attributes or Account Attributes.

For example in stock control you could have a category of 'Colour' which contains all the stock attributes for the various colours available.

Stock Attribute Category

To create an Stock 'Attribute Category' you will need to:

  • Got to " Stock Control Maintenance Options Add or Edit Stock Attributes"
  • Either [Add] or search for a specific attribute and click [Edit].
  • Click on the [Parameters].
  • Click on the field for "Category:" and press <Ctrl+F1>.
  • Press <F6> or click the [Add] button.
    • On "Attribute category:" enter up to a 3 digit code.
i.e. COL.
    • On "Description:" give the new category a description.
i.e. Colour.
    • Click on the [Parameters] tab.
      • If this needs to be a mandatory category (an attribute within the category must be selected), set the flag to 'Yes' else leave it as 'No'.
      • If the attributes in this category are to be used internally set the " Internal?:" to 'Yes' else leave it as 'No'.
    • Click [Done] and click [Accept] to save the new Stock Attribute Category.

Account Attribute Category

To create an Account 'Attribute Category' you will need to:

  • Got to " Reports & Settings Maintenance Options System Administrator" and either " Add or Edit Customer Attributes" for customer attributes or " Add or Edit Supplier Attributes" for supplier attributes.
  • Either [Add] or search for a specific attribute and click [Edit].
  • Click on the [Parameters].
  • Click on the field for "Category:" and press <Ctrl+F1>.
  • Press <F6> or click the [Add] button.
    • On "Attribute category:" enter up to a 3 digit code.
i.e. TYP
    • On "Description:" give the new category a description.
i.e. Trade Type
    • Click on the [Parameters] tab.
      • If this needs to be a mandatory category (an attribute within the category must be selected), set the flag to 'Yes' else leave it as 'No'.
    • Click [Done] and click [Accept] to save the new Stock Attribute Category.
