This article explains how to create analysis codes in Platinum.

Analysis codes are single character codes with a thirty character description that can be created and used in a number of areas including Sales Ledger customers, Purchase Ledger suppliers, Stock Control stock codes, Stock Control depots and Unit Sales units. Each code is a separate and distinct field.

They can be set up in a number of possible ways depending on the module in which you are using them.

Examples of how they could be set up in a couple of the modules listed are:

Customers

  • Salesperson
  • Payment Terms
  • Geographical area
  • Statement required and by what method

Stock Codes

  • Department
  • Pricing

Units

  • Stocking Plan Type
  • Stocking Plan Payment Terms

These are just some examples of how they could be used.

Creating Codes

To create analysis codes in the different areas, use the following methods.

Create-as-you-go

If you are on an "Analysis Code" field, you can create one by pressing <Shift+F10>.

  • Enter a single character as the code itself. This can be upper and lower case letters, numbers or symbols.
  • Enter the "Description" of the code. You have thirty characters.
  • Press <Esc> and accept the code.

Create by Module

If you want to take a more organised approach to creating the "Analysis Codes", then follow this procedure.

  • Go to " Reports & Settings Maintenance Options System Administrator Module Settings" for the appropriate module - Sales Ledger for customers, Stock Control for Stock, Unit Sales for units and so on.
  • Choose the " Analysis" option from the relevant menu.
  • You are presented with an option for each "Analysis Code" position.
  • Create the codes as described above.

Using Analysis Codes =

They can be used in reporting, document formats or certain areas of the software to define a range of items to be included in a specific process or report.
