How do I create technicians?

Summary

This article explains how to create a new technician in the workshop system and assign them the relevant amount of hours for the workshop diary.

Additional Information

To create the technician , you will need to go to "Workshop Management" -> Maintenance Options" -> "Technicians Labour Rates" -> "Add or Edit Labour Codes".

Creating a Technician

This will take you to the "Add or Edit Labour Codes" screen, it is here where you create the technician.

  • At the "Labour code:" type in the initials of the technician to be created. Press <Enter>.
  • This will take you down to the "User Code:". You may attach a labour code to a specific Platinum user. If you wish to do this, type in the Platinum user code of that user. Else press <Enter> to move skip.
  • On "Labour Name:" type the full name of the technician being set-up. Once done press <Enter>.
  • On the "Sales Centre:"if you wish to use the system default leave this blank else. Enter the cost centre associated with this labour code, or you may wish to attach all labour codes to a specific "Labour Cost Centre", when done <Enter>.
  • The "V.A.T. Rate:" is default to 0, if you wish for the technician to only use a particular V.A.T. rate enter it here, when done <Enter>.
  • At "Category:" enter in a Labour Costings Category Code here if you wish not to specify a particular code and wish to use the systems default code leave this section blank and press <Enter> to continue.
  • At "Depot:" type in the depot of which this technician is to be defaulted too. if you you do not have multiple sites then leave the "Depot:" set to 'Stock'.
  • At "Primary Skill" type in a technicians "primary skill", or "speciality". this can show that the technician is specialised in electrics, bodywork, paintwork, welding etc. This is useful when a job is broken down into parts involving specific skills, and the day planning are available, and on what days, in order to perform the job in question.
  • On "Available Hours:" enter in the specific amount of hours the technician is available to work from "Sunday" through to "Saturday". If he is not available on specific days during the week (i.e. Days Off) leave the available hours on that day set to '0'.
  • Entering in the starting date of the technician.
