Summary

The ability to send standard SMS messages from the Platinum system.

Additional Information

Go to the location in Platinum where you would like to send the standard messages. E.g. if sending a message to a customer that his bike is ready, you would need to go into the workshop job.

Selecting SMS Sending Facility

  • Click on Messages on the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  • Click on SMS Messaging on the drop down menu.

You can now enter a message then click [Send] to send the message to the customer's mobile number.

Creating a Macro Message

If you often send the same message you can save typing it every time by recording a "macro".

  • Click on Macro on the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  • Click on Macro Manager on the drop down menu.
  • Press <F6> to create a new Macro.
  • At the "Sort code" enter a 3 character code to label the macro then press <Enter>.
  • At the "Name" enter a name for the message and press <Enter>.
  • At the "Description" enter a brief description of what the message will say.
  • At the "Hot Key Number" enter a number from '0-9'.
  • Press <F2> to start recording the macro.
A prompt will appear asking "Do you want to start recording?" press [Yes].
  • Press <Enter> to go to "From:".
  • Press <Enter> to go to "Notes:".
  • Type your message in the lines provided.
The message length is only 160 characters long. Anything over that amount will be added to a second message.
  • Once finished press <Alt+M> to stop the Macro.
  • A prompt will appear stating "The Macro recording has been stopped and saved.", press the [OK] button.

Example

  • "Sort code:" 'ST1'.
  • "Name:" 'Vehicle Collection'.
  • "Description:" 'A message to customer notifying that vehicle is ready'.
  • "Hot Key Number:" '1'

Sending the message

  • Click on SMS Messaging on the drop down menu.
  • Press the relevant Hot Key Number. E.g. <Alt+1>.
  • If the system has entered the mobile telephone number of the customer press the [Send] button.
