Summary

This article explains the two different methods of assigning a vehicle type to a vehicle, and will also demonstrate how to show only a particular type of vehicle.

More Information

Assigning Vehicle Types individually to a Vehicle

The first method is to assign the "Vehicle type" against an individual vehicle.

Go to " Unit Sales Add or Edit Vehicles".

  • Search for the vehicle record to which you want to assign a type in the "Search On:" and press <F2> or click the [Search] button.
  • Press <F5> or click the [Edit] button to edit the vehicle details.
  • On the [Vehicle] tab, in the "Status" section there is a ""Vehicle type:"" field. Set this to the type of vehicle that you want.
  • Press <Esc> and click [Accept] to save the changes.
This method is quick to set up and overrides all other settings for the "Vehicle type". Unfortunately using this method will mean you cannot search for a particular type of vehicle.

Assigning Vehicles Types via Location

The second method is the Catalyst preferred method of assigning a vehicle type to a vehicle. This method uses the "Location" of the vehicle.

Go to " Unit Sales Add or Edit Vehicles".

  • Search for the vehicle record to which you want to assign a type in the "Search On:" and press <F2> or click the [Search] button.
  • Press <F5> or click the [Edit] button to edit the vehicle details.
  • On the [Vehicle] tab, in the "Status" section there is a "Location :" field.
  • Select this field and press <Shift+F10> to edit the "Location".
  • Click on the [Settings] tab and set the "Vehicle type :" to the type you want.
  • Press <Esc> and click [Accept] to save the changes to the "Location".
  • Press <Esc> and click [Accept] to save the changes to the vehicle record.
This method requires multiple locations to be set up for the various different type of vehicles that you stock. However this method means you can show different types in the system.

How do I show just a particular type of vehicle?

As mentioned previously if you set up your vehicle types by the using vehicle locations, it is possible to list a particular type of vehicle you have in stock.

Go to " Unit Sales Vehicle Enquiries".

  • On the "Status :", select your 'In Stock' status.
  • On the "Location :", set this to the 'Location' that corresponds to the Vehicle type you want to see.
  • Press <F2> to run the report, which will list all the vehicles assigned to this location.
  • To see the details of a vehicle, <Down Arrow> to the selected vehicle and press <F5> or click [Edit] to see the vehicle details.
