Summary

The following article explains how Interest Categories work in Sales Prospecting.

More Information

When you create a Prospect you may attach Interest Categories to their record. Interest Categories are a way of recording a particular characteristic of a prospect e.g. 'Honda Owner', 'met at Trade Show', 'Has a Family', 'Harley Davidson Enthusiast' etc. Prospects with particular interests can then be targeted using the mail shot program, e.g. to inform them you will be attending a show, to let them know you are having an open day, to inform them of new products etc. You may create as many different Interest Categories as you like and you can apply several categories to each prospect.

To create an Interest

Go to " Sales Prospecting Maintenance Options Add or Edit Interests".

  • Click [Add].
  • Type a code (max 3 characters) and tap <Enter>.
  • Type a description (max 30 characters) and tap <Enter>.
  • Enter the order for this category which defines where it will appear in your listing of allocated Interests. Lower numbers will appear higher up the list.
  • Enter the Link Interest if required. This will apply the linked Interest every time the current interest is allocated.
  • Enter the Category if required. This makes it easier to find Interests by category such as manufacturer.
  • Press [Done] and [Accept] to create the Interest.
  • You can now carry on creating codes or click [Close] to go back to the previous menu.

Allocate Interests

Go to " Sales Prospecting Add or Edit Prospects".

  • Search for the appropriate prospect or create a new one.
  • Select the prospect and click [Edit].
  • Click the [Interests] tab.
  • You will see a list of all the available Interests. Clicking on one of the categories will list only Interests in that category.
  • Find the required interest and click [->] or press <F6> to allocate this Interest to the prospect.
  • If you select one by mistake, then simply select it in the right-hand pane and click [<-] to remove.
  • Allocate any further Interests and then click [Done] or tap <Esc> and [Accept] to confirm changes.
