Summary

This article explains one way to obtain the Platinum Licence (SXID) information for a computer that has or is currently accessing Platinum.

Additional Information

Each time a computer accesses Platinum Software, it creates an entry log within the SX company folder. This entry log is called '\sx\sxco?\sx-login.log' and will be a text file. An Example of the file is shown below...

LIAISON02 1785 01 Fredrick 19/06/2008 14:12:40 SX 00 00 7D20

LIAISON02 1786 01 Fredrick 19/06/2008 16:04:48 SX 00 00 7D20

LIAISON02 1787 01 Fredrick 19/06/2008 16:22:13 SX 00 00 7D20

SX-Login.Log

  • The left hand column in the text file is the computer name. In the example above, this is 'LIAISON02'.
  • Next is the User's log-on code, which changes every time the user logs onto Platinum and increases numerically. In the example above, this is the column showing '1785, 1786 and 1787'
  • The next field is the User's ID code. This is a code used by Platinum for each user. In the example above, this is the column showing '01'.
  • The next two fields are the login date and time when the user logged on. In the example above, these are the columns showing '19/06/2008 16:04:48', '19/06/2008 16:04:48', and '19/06/2008 16:22:13'.
  • The next 3 fields are not important here, these can be ignored. In the example above, these are 'SX 00 00'.
  • Finally the all important field - the machine's Platinum Licence (SXID). This ID is unique to each machine and is what is needed by the Catalyst Support Team. Each machine that uses plainum has had this SXID code saved against your maintenace record.
