The Catalyst Web Daemon is an application for your Platinum System that powers Platinum Email, live eCommerce enquiries, third party EPC support, your Platinum Online and your Platinum Mobile App that allows you to access useful features from mobile data enabled devices.

Downloading the Web Daemon

Download the Web Deadmon
  • Click the Platinum icon to the left to download the latest version of our Web Daemon service.
  • Click [Save] then use the browser to choose "Desktop" (if you have previously downloaded an update you should first delete the icon called 'setupwebdaemon.exe' from your desktop).
  • Click [Save].
  • The download should take anything between 5 seconds and 1 minute depending on the speed of your Internet connection, and should be around 650K.
Your Platinum system must be updated with new licence details in order for the Web Daemon to function correctly for eCommerce, extra Platinum Online and Mobile devices. Contact your Platinum dealer or our sales team on 0116 230 1500 or by using our website sales contact page for more information.

Installation

  • It is recommended that the Web Daemon is installed on your Platinum server.
  • Find the installation package 'setupwebdaemon.exe' downloaded above and double-click to run it.
  • Follow the instructions in the Setup Wizard to install the Web Daemon.
  • You will be asked for the location of the "Platinum communication folder". The wizard should detect this automatically. Click [Next] to continue. Contact your Platinum dealer or our support team on 0116 230 1500 or by using our website support contact page if an error message is shown stopping you from proceeding.
  • You will be asked to supply logon credentials. An appropriate Windows user name and password must be supplied that will let the Web Daemon access your Platinum data over the network. Click [Install] to continue.
If your network is on a domain you will need to supply the domain name with the username.
i.e. - Domain\username.
  • The Catalyst Web Daemon will now be installed as a Windows service.

Use

Contact your Platinum dealer or our support team on 0116 230 1500 or by using our website support contact page to find out how to use the Web Daemon from your website.

If you are not using the Platinum Backup Program to backup your data, you might need to temporarily stop the Web Daemon Service whilst your backup runs and then start it again afterwards. As the Web Daemon will actively be processing files in Platinum and these may be locked and not get backed up.
