Why does my Zebra Label Printer Print a Blank Label?
From Catalyst
Summary
This article will explain some of the reasons why your label printer is printing out a blank label.
More Information
There are a number of possible reasons why the Zebra label printer is printing a blank label. A few of possible reasons are listed below with ideas of how to rectify them.
- Your Zebra Label Printer does not have the right drivers installed for your operating system.
- Click here to go to the "Support & Downloads" page for Zebra label printers.
- Your version of the Zebra label printer is a thermal printer. This means that that your labels should be heat sensitive however the ones you are using are not.
- To test if the labels you are using are heat sensitive or not, simply apply a little heat to the label and it will turn black where the heat has been applied. If the label does not turn black, you have non-heat sensitive labels in the printer.

- Your labels are printing out fine but the printer is feeding one extra blank label.
- This can occur for two reasons.
- The first reason has been mentioned previously - the driver installed is not correct for your operating system.
- Follow the instructions above.
- The second reason is down to a configurable setting in your Zebra label printer properties which is enabled.
- You will need to go to:
- Click on Windows [Start].
- Go to Devices and Printers.
- Right click on the Zebra Label Printer.
- Select "Printer Properties".
- Click on [General].
- Click on [Preferences].
- Click on [Advance Setup].
- Click on [Miscellaneous] - Make sure that "KDU Repeat Prompt" is not ticked.
- This is because the label printers can be run stand-alone with a KDU - Keyboard Display Unit. If you are not using a KDU this setting needs disabling.
- You will need to go to:
- The first reason has been mentioned previously - the driver installed is not correct for your operating system.
- This can occur for two reasons.
- Your label size is not correctly set up in the Printer Properties.
- Click here and follow the instructions on setting up the label sizes.
If none of the above has helped then, it could mean that the printer itself is at fault, which would mean it may need replacing. Please click here where you can order one online or please Contact your Platinum dealer or our sales team on 0116 230 1500 or by using our website sales contact page. |
