Summary

The following article explains how to fix the problem of Stock/Address labels printing a blank label between each one printed.

More Information

In some cases when a label printer has been set up and labels are printed, you get a blank label between each one, meaning you waste labels.

This is generally due to the page size settings in the Printer Properties of Windows being incorrectly set. Usually the label size that the printer is expecting is set to a size that does not match your actual label size, e.g. label size is set to '2.00" x 4.00"' for labels that actually measure '2.25" x 1.25"'. The blank label problem occurs when this size is not correctly set in both places on the Printer Properties in Windows.

The two settings are stored in the following areas:

  • Go to [Printers and Faxes] and right click the printer in question.
  • Go to " Properties General Printing Preferences Paper/Output Paper Size".
  • Check that the label size matches your actual labels. Change it if necessary.
  • Click [Apply].
  • Go to " Advanced Printing Defaults Paper/Output Paper Size".
  • Again, check that the label size matches your actual labels and is the same as above, and change it if necessary.

Usually the problem arises when the setting in the [General] tab is not the same as the [Advanced] tab. Correcting this should then sort the label printing at the next print.
