Summary
In order to carry out a workshop job on a batched or serial part you may convert it into a unit record.
More Information
Having sold a batched item to a customer you may then create a workshop job to carry out work on the item e.g. a service on a chainsaw. Unit records allow you to store workshop history so you can easily look back on work carried out on the item.
Having sold a batched item to a customer, create a workshop job as usual.
- Having entered the customer in the "Keeper" field move to the "Unit" field.
- Press <Alt+F10>.
- A list of batched stock sold to the customer will be shown. This defaults to items sold in the last 5 years.
- Select the item to convert into a unit and click [Choose].
- The next automatic unit stock number is assigned to the item.
- The item description is used to complete the unit "description" fields.
- The stock code is recorded in the 4th "description" line
- The batch number is recorded in the "VIN", "Chassis" and "Notes" fields.
- If you wish to view or amend the unit record, press <Shift+F10> on the "unit".
Continue with the workshop job as usual.
