Summary
This article explains how to record time for employees who are not part of the workshop department.
You must have the Personnel Planning module to use this feature. Contact your Platinum dealer or our sales team on 0116 230 1500 or by using our website sales contact page for more information.
More Information
To allow employees to record time you will need to check the "Record time" setting on their user record is set to 'Yes'. Follow this article to edit a user record.
Recording time within Platinum
Go to " Systems Personnel Planning Real Time Employee Recording".
- Enter your employee code and press <Enter> or scan your employee barcode
- Enter the activity code and press <Enter> or scan the activity barcode.
Printing labels to scan with a barcode scanner may be easier than typing an activity code as you need to enter the exact code e.g. 'TRA' - Training or 'MEE' - Meeting. |
- The previous activity will be ended and the new activity started. The time spent is recorded in real time.
- At the end of the day the employee should log off their final activity using the 'LOGOFF' code or barcode.
You can click the [End day] button to log all employees out in one go. |
Recording time using Platinum Online

Creating and Printing Activities & Barcodes
Go to " " Reports & Settings Maintenance Options System Administrator Module Settings" Personnel Planning Employee Activity Maintenance Add or Edit Activity Types".
- Click [List] to view the existing codes.
- Click [Add] and enter a 3 character code e.g. 'MED'
- Enter a "Description" e.g. Medical.
- Select a "Background" colour for the activity if you wish.
- Click [Done] and [Accept].
To print a list of activities press <Ctrl-P> and select [Print]. |
To print activity barcodes onto an A4 sheet press <F4> and click [Print]. |
Printing Employee Barcodes
Go to " " Reports & Settings Maintenance Options System Administrator Module Settings" Personnel Planning Employee Activity Maintenance Print Employee Barcodes"
You need to be on a machine which can print to a label printer else the labels will print one per A4 page. |
- To print labels for all employees click [Start] or select a specific employee or department then click [Start].
