Summary
Important: This article is for clients who have yet to update their software to allow automatic parts/price updates. If you have a current maintenance agreement updates to your Platinum are FREE (see Downloading a Platinum Update) - after you apply this program update all parts/price files that you have on subscription will be downloaded and installed automatically. |
The following article outlines "How to Order", "Download" and "Run a Parts & Price Update for Platinum" to keep your parts prices up to date. The Price update process is dealt with in 3 stages and these are outlined below.
Stage 1 - Notification/Ordering/Acceptance
Notification
When an update becomes available for a particular supplier, the update is posted onto the support website (you will need register to use this site, registration is FREE) with details of the changes and is available for download. Once an update is posted on the website a faxed notification will be sent to all Platinum Customers we have on our records as being related to the Franchise in question. If the customer has purchased a 12 month subscription (See below) they will be sent a fax advising them that their Update is ready for download. All other customers will be sent a Fax that requires them to fax back a YES/NO reply. Once received at the Catalyst offices your update will be issued and invoiced in the appropriate manner.
Ordering
Platinum Parts and Price Updates are available as a download from the support website or, for an extra charge, on a CD for those with no internet connection.
Stage 2 - Downloading the Price Update
To download the required Parts Price Update you will need to go to the left of Platinum and look for the following in the menu bar.
Go to "Help" -> "Software Support" -> "Download Parts and Price Files".
Update: If you do not have this option you may need to run a Platinum update available as long as you have a live maintenance contract, see the Downloading a Platinum Update article. |
- This will take you to the page on the Catalyst support website where all the Price updates are stored. Simply find the require manufacturer and click the link.
- The next page will show you a list of all the changes made by the update and there is a link at the bottom of this page that says for example:
Click here to download the latest Platinum parts/price update from ' manufacturer '
. Click the word [here] to download.- Click [Save] then use the browser to choose "Desktop" (if you have previously downloaded an update you should first delete the icon called 'update.exe' from your desktop).
- Click [Save].
Stage 3 - Running the Price Update
Once the download is complete there should be an 'update.exe' icon on your desktop. This is the required update download. Unlike Platinum Software updates, it can be run with users in the Platinum system but can take some time due the number of parts involved. We usually recommend they are run overnight.
Running the update is as follows :-
- Left click twice on the 'update.exe' file.
- Click [Yes] to update your software.
- When the update has finished, choose [Close].
Go into Platinum and check the price of a few items to make sure that the update has run cleanly.
