Summary

It is possible to use printers within Platinum other than the default Windows printer.

More Information

When installed Platinum is configured to print its output to the default windows printer. Older copies of platinum may need to be reconfigured.

  • Printing to the default windows printer is done by using a "Default Print Device" of 'WIN:.'.
  • Having a selection screen of printers every time you print is done by using a "Default Print Device" of 'WIN:!'.
  • If you know the name of a specific Windows printer attached to your computer you may select it by using a "Default Print Device" of 'WIN:'Printer Name''.
  • If you know the name of a specific Windows printer on the network you may select it by using a "Default Print Device" of 'WIN:'Computer Name'\'Printer Name''.

If you are unsure of the name of a printer on your computer or on the network, press <Ctrl+F1> from "Default Print Device" or press [...] to choose it from a list of windows printers. The "Default Print Device" will then be entered for you.

  • If you are operating Platinum from a remote site, this requires specialist set-up and you should Contact your Platinum dealer or our sales team on 0116 230 1500 or by using our website sales contact page for a quote.

Method

To set the "Default Print Device" for Platinum you will need to amend the "Printer Parameters".

  • The easiest way to amend these is by pressing <Alt+P> while inside any platinum program.
  • Press <Ctrl+F1> to open the Print Record Search window.
  • From here press [Search] and then select the print record you want to edit.
  • Press [Edit] to open the Printer Parameters window, then select the "Device" tab.
  • Move the cursor to "Default Print Device"and enter the windows printer e.g. 'WIN:!'.
