How do I configure a USB barcode scanner for workshop use?

Summary

The defaults for the Metrologic barcode scanners we sell are set to only allow barcodes with a minimum length of 3 characters, most Labour codes are 2 characters in length (the technicians initials) so the new real-time labour code labels do not scan.
