#REDIRECT [[How do I set a program always to print to a specific print record?]]
== Summary ==

The following article shows how you can set a particular Platinum program to always print to a specific print record.  e.g. You may want to always print workshop invoices to a colour printer rather than your default one.

== More Information ==

First of all you will need the printer you require printing to to be installed on the computer you are working on.  Either do this yourself or {{SalesContact}} and they will be able to quote you for the time taken to install it for you.

Once the printer is installed you will need to do the following:

== Creating the Print Record ==

* Follow [[How do I create a new print record?|this]] article on creating new print records.

== Telling Platinum to use your new print record ==

*Go to {{Menu|{{RP}}|Maintenance Options|Systems Administrator|Security & Print Configuration}}

*Press {{KeyPress|F3}} to page down to where you see an empty line, i.e. the line below the last entry in the list.

*In the {{DataPrompt|Program}} field press {{KeyPress|C-F1}} to bring up a search window.

*In the {{DataPrompt|Filter On:}}field, type in a search word for the program you are looking for, for example, if you wanted to find the program that produces a workshop invoice, you would type {{DataPrompt|document}} and press {{Button|Search}}.

{{Note|All Platinum programs start with {{DataValue|SXP}} followed by the module, so {{DataValue|ST}} for stock control, {{DataValue|VS}} for unit sales and {{DataValue|WS}} for workshop e.t.c.}}

{{Note|If you require help in finding the correct program, please {{SupportContact}}}}

*When you have located the correct program, get your cursor across to the columns highlighted {{DataPrompt|Print Records}} and enter in the number of the print record you created in the section above in both columns.

*Click {{Button|Exit}} to save your changes.

*Press {{KeyPress|ESC}} a few times to exit out of the system administrator settings.

*The next time you print the relevant document it will now print to the new print record you have set up.
