Summary

This article explains the two different methods of assigning a unit type to a unit, and will also demonstrate how to show only a particular type of unit.

More Information

Assigning Unit Types individually to a Unit

The first method is to assign the "Unit type" against an individual unit.

Go to " Unit Sales Add or Edit Units".

  • Search for the unit record to which you want to assign a type in the "Search On:" and press <F2> or click the [Search] button.
  • Press <F5> or click the [Edit] button to edit the unit details.
  • On the [Unit] tab, in the "Status" section there is a ""Unit type:"" field. Set this to the type of unit that you want.
  • Press <Esc> and click [Accept] to save the changes.
This method is quick to set up and overrides all other settings for the "Vehicle type". Unfortunately using this method will mean you cannot search for a particular type of unit.

Assigning Units Types via Location

The second method is the Catalyst preferred method of assigning a unit type to a unit. This method uses the "Location" of the unit.

Go to " Unit Sales Add or Edit Units".

  • Search for the unit record to which you want to assign a type in the "Search On:" and press <F2> or click the [Search] button.
  • Press <F5> or click the [Edit] button to edit the unit details.
  • On the [Unit] tab, in the "Status" section there is a "Location:" field.
  • Select this field and press <Shift+F10> to edit the "Location".
  • Click on the [Settings] tab and set the "Unit type:" to the type you want.
  • Press <Esc> and click [Accept] to save the changes to the "Location".
  • Press <Esc> and click [Accept] to save the changes to the unit record.
This method requires multiple locations to be set up for the various different type of units that you stock. However this method means you can show different types in the system.

How do I show just a particular type of unit?

As mentioned previously if you set up your unit types by the using unit locations, it is possible to list a particular type of unit you have in stock.

Go to " Unit Sales Unit Enquiries".

  • On the "Status:", select your 'In Stock' status.
  • On the "Location:", set this to the 'Location' that corresponds to the Vehicle type you want to see.
  • Press <F2> to run the report, which will list all the units assigned to this location.
  • To see the details of a unit, <Down Arrow> to the selected unit and press <F5> or click [Edit] to see the unit details.
