Summary

This article explains how to create a new Workshop Job using Platinum Online.

Current versions of Platinum Online require an internet connection to use the option to add or copy a job.

More Information

This option allows you to create a new workshop job including selecting from your existing customer database and selecting an existing unit or creating a new unit. You may also copy an existing job

Please note you cannot create a new customer record using this option.
  • Log in to Platinum Online.
  • Enter your 'Online ID' and 'Password' then click [Log in].
To check/set up your Platinum Online log in details, click here
  • Go to " Workshop Technician Activity".
  • All Jobs your system is configured to display will be listed on screen.

Creating a New Job

  • Click the [+] button beside the "Available Jobs" heading.
  • At "Description" enter a brief description for the job e.g. Major Service.
  • At "Customer" enter the customer name to auto search for their customer record. If the customer cannot be found you must leave this field empty.
  • At "Unit", if you have selected an existing customer, click the magnifying glass symbol to list and choose from their current units.
    • If their unit is listed you can select it.
    • If their unit is not listed you are advised to search for it, using the Description, Reg or Chassis/VIN, in case it has been linked to a different customer on a previous occasion.
    • If the unit does not exist click [Create new unit] and enter the relevant details on screen. Click [Create Unit].
  • Click [Create Job] to add the job to your system.

  • Find the job to copy and click the 3 dots to the left of the existing job.
  • Select the " Create Job (Copy)" option.

  • At "Unit", if you have selected an existing customer, click the magnifying glass symbol to list and choose from their current units.

Prior to invoicing; the job should be reviewed within desktop Platinum and the customer and unit details used to add or update your customer and unit records.

Synchronising Platinum Online

Platinum Online will use your internet connection periodically to update your Workshop system. To force the system to refresh and update:

  • Go to the [Technician Activity] screen.
  • Select [Refresh].

Log Out

At the end of each day you should log out of Platinum Online.

  • Select the 3 bars () to the left of [Technician Activity].
  • Select [Logout].
